The Themes Team is a group of volunteers who review and approve themes that are submitted to be included in the official WordPress Theme directory. The free themes in the WordPress repository are important to businesses, groups, individuals, and organizations around the world. It’s the work of this team that ensures themes found here are properly evaluated, meet all requirements, and are safe for others to use.
A walkthrough on how to review themes will be provided, so if you’ve never done it before, don’t worry, you will be a valuable part of the team very quickly.

To honor the memory of Kim Parsell, the WordPress Foundation set up a memorial scholarship to ensure that Kim’s core values would continue to be infused into the WordPress community. Today they announced that the recipient this year is Carol Gann.
Kim was an avid supporter of women participating and thriving in all aspects of the WordPress community. This year’s recipient, Carol Gann, a Meetup coordinator from the WordPress Orlando Community, is a woman who is doing just that.
