WCUS: How Do I Decide Which Sessions to Attend?

If you’ve never attended a WordCamp before (and even if you have) it may seem impossible to figure out which sessions to attend. Especially at a WordCamp the size of WordCamp US. There are so many things to see and do. How do you start?

We have assembled some advice on how to determine how to choose what to do at WordCamp US:

  • Prior to camp, read each session description. For each time slot consider which one appeals to you most.
  • Consider the speakers. Is there someone you admire that you want to hear? Go to that session.
  • Looking to grow your skillset? Challenge yourself with a session that you consider more advanced.
  • If there’s a session time where nothing really appeals to you, then consider one of the following:
    • Spend some time in the “hallway track” (aka the Sponsor Hall or anywhere you can gather and network)
    • Grab a snack
    • Introduce yourself to someone new – maybe to a sponsor in the Sponsor Hall!
    • Visit a local coffee shop for some good coffee and catch up on email
    • Visit the WordPress Support Desk and get some help with your WordPress site
    • Find someplace quiet and get some rest
    • Get out and see St. Louis
  • What if you are in a session and it doesn’t fit your needs? Slip out quietly and find something that works for you.

Between the sessions, workshops, hallway track, meals, and parties, we’re sure you’ll find plenty to do.

Most of all, enjoy every minute!
