Vegetarian & Vegan Fare in St. Louis

David Needham shares his research here on the best Vegetarian and Vegan restaurants in St. Louis.

Saint Louis is a city with many distinctive culinary tastes that are accommodating to vegans and vegetarians alike. Here are some of our favorite places to nosh, broken out by distance in “Near the Venue” and “Worth the Drive.”

Near the Venue

Pi Pizzeria

Location:
610 Washington Ave, Saint Louis, MO 63101

Hours:
11 AM – 11 PM (M-Th)
11 AM – 12 AM (Fr-Sa)
11 AM – 10 PM (Su)

Website / Yelp

Description: Pizza is my favorite food group. Pi Pizzeria is just a block away from the venue and can accommodate large groups with varying preferences! Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free – there are options for the crust, cheese, and toppings to cover all of your bases. But it doesn’t stop with pizza, there are also vegan and gluten-free salads, desserts, and drink options!

Rooster

Location:
1104 Locust St, Saint Louis, MO 63101

Hours:
8 AM – 3 PM (every day)

Website / Yelp

Description: Saint Louis is known for some of the best comfort food, but it can be really tough to find it vegan or vegetarian-friendly. While their menu is relatively limited, Rooster has customizable vegan-friendly crepes or you can go all-in with their “Vegan Rooster Slinger,” which includes delicious vegan sausage gravy over crispy potatoes and thick-cut toast. Rooster closes at 3 PM every day, so definitely consider checking them out for breakfast or lunch.

Worth the Drive

Lulu’s Local Eatery

Location:
3201 S Grand, Saint Louis, MO 63118

Hours:
11:30 AM – 9 PM (M-Sa)
10 AM – 2 PM (Su)

Website / Yelp

Description: Lulu’s is 100% plant-based and probably has more varied vegan options than anywhere else in Saint Louis. This is the place to go if you want a solid vegan burrito. Or buffalo cauliflower. Or sweet potato black bean burger. Or Latke Benedict! You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Come for the vegan food, stick around for their upstairs Ping Pong Bar!

Small Batch

Location:
3001 Locust Blvd, Saint Louis, MO 63103

Hours:
5 PM – 11 PM (M-Th)
4 PM – 12 AM (F-Sa)
10 AM – 11 PM (Su)

Website / Yelp

Description: Small Batch is the sort of place you could bring your meat-eating friends to let them sample some creative vegan dishes and prove that you really don’t have it all that bad. Start with an appetizer of brussel sprouts, fermented potstickers, or cauliflower wings with buffalo or sweet and sour sauce. And jump into your entree with the spicy and smoky rigatoni, pad thai, squash lasagna with asparagus (pictured), or one of the other delectable options. Plus, as their name implies, they have an enormous whiskey collection, including flights so you can sample a little bit of everything.

Clementine’s Naughty & Nice Creamery

11 AM – 10 PM (Su)

Website / Yelp

Description: Clementine’s has delicious vegan options, including coconut chocolate fudge, cashew salted caramel, beet strawberry, some sorbet options, and others that cycle out regularly with the season. Too cold for ice cream? Consider their affogato or pair with alcohol to help warm up.

  1. Thank you, David Needham for this post. Going to a new city and locating restaurants with food one can eat can be challenging and stressful. I appreciate the time you put into this vegan / vegetarian restaurant research.

    1. St. Louis is full of great Vegan and Vegetarian restaurants and places that offer many options on their menu. I posted a comment with my favorites but it doesn’t seem to be here. It may not have been approved?

  2. I’m certainly hungry after this read. I’m even considering to do a Food Series in St. Louis on this, it’s brilliant. I’m vegetarian and I am impressed and mouthwateringly hungry now!
