Just north of Los Angeles on Interstate 5, is the city of Santa Clarita, the fourth largest city in Los Angeles County. Consisting of Canyon Country, Castaic, Newhall, Saugus, Stevenson Ranch and Valencia, the Santa Clarita Valley is one of its fastest-growing communities in SoCal. With thirty-four parks/open spaces, three local commuter colleges (Cal Arts, The Masters University, and College of the Canyons), a fledgling film studio and tech community, a nationally-known amusement park (Six Flags Magic Mountain), and a public transit system including local bus and regional Metrolink train service, the Santa Clarita Valley is the perfect spot to contribute to WordPress.

The WordPress Santa Clarita Valley Meetup was established to build Community locally as opposed to having to stay late or drive into downtown Los Angeles or other surrounding areas to give back. Their focus is on learning and teaching those new to WordPress or sparking lively discussion on advanced topics, and grow together.

In the coming years, they hope to involve their youth with Kid’s Camp and possibly a Do_Action WordPress event to support local community and businesses — the city government and libraries use WordPress.
