Whether you\u2019re brand new to WordPress or a longtime contributor, there\u2019s a place for you here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A diverse group of volunteers brings fresh perspectives and helps create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for everyone at a WordCamp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many ways to contribute, such as greeting attendees at the registration desk, emceeing sessions, or welcoming newcomers at the community table, to supporting behind-the-scenes logistics. This ensures you will have plenty of time to fully enjoy WordCamp US as an attendee. If you\u2019re available to volunteer more of your time, we\u2019d be grateful! When you apply to volunteer, you&#8217;ll share your availability with us which will be used to create the volunteer schedule.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"i-m-ready-to-volunteer-what-s-next\">I\u2019m ready to volunteer! What\u2019s next?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Just click the <strong>Apply to volunteer<\/strong> button below and fill out the form \u2013 it\u2019s that simple!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once submitted, you\u2019ll see a confirmation message showing we received your application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All applicants will be notified by <strong>July 15th<\/strong>. This could include information concerning the venue areas, the Tracks, and even the schedule of events. These are just a few of the questions you may be asked to answer. But don&#8217;t worry, you&#8217;re not expected to have all the answers; when you don&#8217;t know, having the initiative to ask the relevant team and\/or organizer for guidance is expected. This role will also involve supporting the collation of lost &amp; found items and safeguarding them until the owner comes for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"registration-desk\">Registration Desk<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll have the exciting opportunity to be among the first faces our attendees encounter, warmly greeting them as they arrive at the conference. Your main responsibilities will include offering essential information to visitors and ensuring smooth badge distribution\/printing for attendees, volunteers, and speakers alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"swag-station\">Swag Station<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll be responsible for distributing free swag to our visitors. This position may involve lifting boxes, unboxing and setting up swag, stuffing swag bags, restocking the table as needed, handing out items, and checking attendance records once finished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"contributor-day-support-staff\">Contributor Day Support Staff:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll help check in attendees and help find their team\u2019s table. Show new contributors the different ways to get involved with WordPress. Onboard contributors on WordPress.org and Slack setup. Answer contributor questions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"room-staff\">Room Staff<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"emcee-track-lead\">Emcee &amp; Track lead<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You will be announcing speakers and transitions between sessions. A script and speaker bios will be provided. Introduce yourself to the speaker, ask about special requests, and check their bio and name pronunciation. You will also act as the lead for your assigned room. You will ensure that all room volunteers are in their designated positions and performing their assigned tasks. Open room doors after sessions, greet attendees as they enter, close doors when the session starts, and help keep noise down around the room during the session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"time-keeper\">Time keeper<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Communicate with the speakers and emcee about time limits and the schedule. Coordinate with the Track Lead and ensure that talks start and end on time. Explain to the speaker how and when you will show \u2018remaining time\u2019 cards during their session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"speaker-assistant\">Speaker assistant<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Get to know the speakers, introduce yourself, and collect them 60 minutes before their talk. Show them the room they will be speaking in as well as the green room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"other-special-volunteer-roles\">Other \/ Special volunteer roles<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"runner\">Runner<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>As a Runner, you\u2019ll assist fellow volunteers by delivering anything they may need while stationed at their posts. This may include water, food, personal items from the volunteer room, extra chairs, or necessary equipment. You\u2019ll be on your feet and moving throughout the venue for most of your shift, and some tasks may involve lifting boxes or heavier items. You\u2019ll report to a Volunteers Team organizer and stay in touch via Slack, so please bring a mobile device. You may also respond to real-time requests from fellow volunteers in the Volunteers Slack channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"lunchtime-support\">Lunchtime support<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a limited length shift (i.e., special shift). Your role will be to help attendees proceed to the lunch area in a controlled manner. You\u2019ll need to know where the serving stations are located and assist visitors in locating where specific food types are being served (for example, Halal, Vegetarian alternatives, etc).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"greeters-roamers\">Greeters\/Roamers<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The Volunteers Team organizers will place roamers in stations to help direct foot traffic. Help attendees find their way around and answer questions. Support attendees with extra needs, including those with disabilities or requiring assistance in specific venue areas. Greet attendees and help create a fun and positive atmosphere.
