You can directly message other contributors and join channels for specific teams and topics.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Slack is also the easiest way to connect with fellow attendees before, during, and after the event. WordCamp US has a channel called <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.slack.com\/archives\/C087S65L2\">#wcus<\/a>. Each team also has its own Slack channel linked at the bottom of its <a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/\">team description<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMake WordPress\u201d refers to the contributor section of WordPress.org \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/\">make.wordpress.org<\/a> \u2013 but anyone can join the <a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.slack.com\">Make WordPress Slack<\/a> workspace to listen, learn, and participate in discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Here are some onboarding steps you can take before the event or during Contributor Day at WordCamp US 2022.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-x-large-font-size wp-block-heading\" style=\"text-transform:uppercase\"><strong>Create a WordPress.org Profile<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don\u2019t already have an account on WordPress.org:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Go to <a href=\"https:\/\/login.wordpress.org\/register\">https:\/\/login.wordpress.org\/register<\/a> to create your account.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Check your email and click the confirmation link to set a password for your WordPress.org account.<\/li><li>Fill in any information you want to share by editing your profile in the top right corner. You can always edit your profile later. For additional guidance, <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.wordpress.org\/workshop\/set-up-a-wordpress-org-account\/\">watch these tutorial videos<\/a>. It\u2019s generally recommended to include your location and employer.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-x-large-font-size wp-block-heading\" style=\"text-transform:uppercase\"><strong>Set up Make WordPress Slack on your Device(s)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether you want to see what\u2019s happening in team channels or chat with other WCUS attendees, the Make WordPress Slack workspace is for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are a wide variety of options for using Slack:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Browser-based app<\/li><li>Apps for both Android and iOS<\/li><li>Native apps for both Windows and Mac<\/li><li>Visit https:\/\/slack.com\/downloads\/ on your device and download the apps<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To access Make WordPress Slack:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Log in to your WordPress.org profile if needed: <a href=\"https:\/\/login.wordpress.org\/\">https:\/\/login.wordpress.org\/<\/a>&nbsp;<\/li><li>Go to <a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/chat\/\">https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/chat\/<\/a><\/li><li>Look for the heading called \u201c<strong>Joining the WordPress team on Slack<\/strong>.\u201d&nbsp;<\/li><li>Copy the special username for your Slack login \u2013 it should be something like <strong>username<\/strong>@chat.wordpress.org&nbsp;<\/li><li>Click the link that says \u201c<strong>I understand. Let&#8217;s get started<\/strong>\u201d&nbsp;<\/li><li>Input the special username<\/li><li>Check your email and click the confirmation link and set a password for your Slack account.<\/li><li>Fill in your information and follow the prompts to create your Slack account.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To join channels in Slack:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In the left-hand sidebar of the Slack app, hover over the&nbsp; \u201cChannels\u201d heading and click the <strong>+<\/strong> icon.<\/li><li>In the search box, search for <strong>wcus<\/strong> or <strong>#wcus<\/strong>.
