Announcing Speaker Office Hours Part Two: Submitting Your “Pitch”

Chris Ford speaking at WCUS

Now that you have a topic – how can you be most effective in writing a proposal or “pitch” and submit that to a Wordcamp… like WordCamp US?

Many have often encountered this same question – and part two of the open office hours will cover this topic… in a planned live video / chat format.

When you apply to speak, you need to have a prepared proposal or pitch (these terms are interchangeable!). This is what WordCamp organizers will review in order to select talks.

Join them Thursday, May 21, at 11am CDT/12pm EDT for the final part of our two Interactive Office Hours dedicated to helping you pick a topic for your talk. Writing Your Pitch will walk you through:

  • What makes a title good or not so good?
  • Important points to consider when writing your outline and your pitch
  • What makes a virtual WordCamp US different than in past years, and how might this affect how you write your pitch?

Come prepared to discuss your ideas and ask questions of the friendly, helpful volunteers. This is an interactive session that will take place in WordPress Slack – the WCUS CHANNEL. If you haven’t yet signed up for WordPress Slack, head over to make.wordpress.org/chat/ and get your Slack handle now.

The participation date has now passed. Big thanks to everyone who showed up!
