The WCUS organizing team is proud to announce the first ever WCUS Wapuu Design Contest!

We want YOU to design the next WCUS 2020 Official Wapuu, so we are opening the opportunity to our creative and talented community members. Entrants can submit either a digitally drawn Wapuu or hand-drawn Wapuu from the templates provided below.

The winning design will be turned into a plushie available for purchase in the WordPress Swag Store and the winning designer will get one to keep and show off!

All profits from the Swag Store will support the WordPress Foundation. Contest opens Saturday, July 11th and closes Saturday, August 8th. Winner will be announced August 14th.

Thanks so much for submitting your design! If you’d like to submit another, you are able to submit up to three (3) designs. The Wapuu design contest will close Saturday, August 8th. If your design is chosen, you’ll be notified. Good luck!

Upload the file to Dropbox, Google Drive, or similar file storing service that you can easily link the download from. If submitting a hand-drawn image from the printable PDF, you must scan the paper.

Rules of Entry

  1. Limit of three entries per person
    1. Each entry must be unique in colors and theme. Eg; cannot submit three entries of the same design in different colors.
  2. Use one of the available Wapuu templates
    1. Download Illustrator File
      1. With WordPress Logo
      2. Without WordPress Logo
    2. Download Printable PDF
      1. Hand-drawn entrants will be transformed into a digital file if chosen as the winner. This may result in some loss or change of design.
    3. Approach the design aspects with a “color outside of the lines” mentality. Use the templates as a base and let your creativity shine!
  3. Upon entry, entrants must provide:
    1. First & last name
    2. Email address
    3. Name of Wapuu
    4. Link to Wapuu file in JPEG, PNG, or PDF format
      1. Upload the file to Dropbox, Google Drive, or similar file storing service that you can easily link the download from.
      2. If submitting a hand-drawn image from the printable PDF, you must scan the paper.
  4. If chosen as the winner, you must provide:
    1. Physical address.
    2. Applicable files based on entry. WCUS team will reach out.
  5. Design must be created by the entrant. Submission of a design created by a third party will not be allowed.
  6. Design aspects
    1. No brands or copyrighted images
    2. Nothing from past designs
    3. Nothing political
    4. No more than 5 colors
  7. The WCUS organizing team:
    1. Will be choosing the winner based on design, theme, and originality. An anonymous vote will be cast by each member of the organizing team.
    2. Reserves the right to disqualify entries
  8. Must submit designs by 11:59PM CDT on Saturday, August 1st. Late entries will not be considered. 
  9. There will be no cash prize. The prize contents include:
    1. Design dubbed official WCUS 2020 Wapuu
    2. Design featured on WCUS website and social platforms
    3. Design made into plushies available in the WordPress Swag Store
    4. Free plushie sent to provided address
