This year we have added an unconference session to the WordCamp US schedule.
What is an Unconference?
We are going to put our own spin on it, but here is the definition from Wikipedia:
An unconference is a participant-driven meeting… Typically at an unconference, the agenda is created by the attendees at the beginning of the meeting. Anyone who wants to initiate a discussion on a topic can claim a time and a space. Some unconference sessions (for example at FooCamp or BarCamp) are led by the participant who suggested its topic; other unconference sessions are basically open discussions of the session topic. “
How will this work at WCUS?
Is there a topic you are itching to discuss but it didn’t make it into the speaker lineup this year? Is there a plugin you just have to tell everyone about? Here is your chance to be a part of the WCUS speaker lineup and make that topic a reality.
On Friday there will be a whiteboard set up outside the sponsor hall. This is the place to suggest a talk that has not been covered in this year’s offerings. Write down your topic, name, and email on the board.
Given the available time and space, we are looking for three talks, each one would be between 5 to 15 minutes in length. If your topic is chosen, you will receive an email confirming your talk and with a link to a form to consent to allow photography.
At the end of the day on Friday, our programming team will round up the suggestions and select the topics to be presented. The chosen talks will then be written on the whiteboard, added to the schedule, and broadcast out on our social media channels.
