Contributor Day

Contributor day is a time to give back to WordPress and meet the people responsible for what we have today. You don’t have to be a developer or designer even know anything about WordPress to participate. Participating is an excellent way to learn more and contribute to the project.

contributor Day 2017

You don’t have to sign up to attend, but we ask that you update your registration to say what team you think you may want to start with. Not sure which team is right for you? The Marketing team famously has a great onboarding process for beginners and is often a good place to start. And we encourage everyone to get up and check out other teams, so you don’t have to stay where you start the day.

Contributor Team: TV

Think of the TV Team as your opportunity to join a major production! The TV Team reviews and approves every video submitted to WordPress.tv. They also help WordCamps with video post-production and are responsible for the captioning and subtitling of published videos. Reviewing videos is a great way to learn about WordPress and help the community: experience is not required to get involved.

Late Breaking WordCamp US Speakers

As we mentioned earlier this year, we left a couple of speaking slots open to cover late breaking news and “Hot Topics”. We are now happy to announce those slots and their presenters. We look forward to them joining us at WordCamp US, November 1-3, 2019 in St. Louis.

“Hot topics” in WordPress inevitably change as the year progresses (and official speaker submissions have passed). Leaving a few spots open, enables the programming team to bring in speakers in a more “last minute” fashion to address timely topics.

What to Expect as a First-Time Attendee

crowd in sponsor hall wcus 2018

As a first time WordCamp US attendee, you may feel overwhelmed at first. After all, this is a massive industry event that you’ve never attended, in a city you’ve never been to, with people you most likely have never met before. However, all of that disappears once you’re immersed in the collaborative, one-of-a-kind atmosphere that WordCamp US has to offer.
