We’re delighted to have them with us as well! We have a few important notes about bringing your kids that we’d like to share in advance of the event.

Minimum Age for Attendance

No one under the age of 18 can attend WCUS without a parent or guardian. In the event that someone under 18 wishes to attend WCUS, a parent or guardian will need to purchase a ticket and attend with them.

Ticket Pricing for Kids

Ticket pricing for kids is as follows:

9 and Under: Free

10 and Up: $40

Please Note: Any child that will be attending the afterparty with their parents will need their own ticket.

Make Sure You Get the Right Ticket

For parents bringing children with them under the age of 10, we have a special ticket type called “WordCamp US 2018 General Admission – Parent with Kids.” This ticket type should be used for any adult that plans to bring kids 9 or under with them to WCUS. In the form, there is a field that asks for the names and ages of all of your children. This helps the organizing team twofold:

We can make sure we’re planning enough food for everyone

In the event of an emergency (such as your child becoming separated from you at the convention center), we have a record of who to contact

Does Your Child Have a Life-Threatening Allergy?

In the event that one of the children that you’re bringing with you has a life-threatening allergy, please click the yes radio button on your ticket. WordCamp US takes life-threatening allergies very seriously. On this year’s ticket form, you’ll notice that there’s a section for you to fill out what/if any dietary restrictions you might have, but there’s also a radio button to click for life-threatening allergies. We consider a life-threatening allergy to be one where if you come in contact with the allergen (whether eaten, touched, or inhaled) that you require immediate medical attention.

If you or your child have an allergy that requires immediate medical attention if you’re exposed, we want to know about it so that we can keep you and/or your child safe. When you click that radio box and complete your purchase, a member of the organizing team will reach out to you for further information. We ask that you don’t provide this information in the dietary restrictions section of the form both because dietary restrictions are handled differently, but also for the safety of your protected health information.

Nursing Parents

Per Tennessee state law, you can nurse in any location, public or private, where you and your child are authorized to be. However, if you want a private place to feed your child or express milk, we’ve got you covered! The Music City Center has locations around the building where you can go to nurse or express milk. If you need help finding one, ask one of our volunteers for help!

Questions?

Do you have questions and need to contact us?
