Our Meetup topics are divided into three categories. Between 2016 and 2017 we’ve hosted 3 Meetups a month for three respective topics. We recently added a fourth Meetup mid-2017. We have Meetup topics for self-hosted WordPress users and developers of themes and plugins (organized by Steve Bruner), WordPress.com users who are often beginners to WordPress or content creators (organized by Winstina Hughes), and a WordPress Help Desk where members can ask questions, seek solutions to pressing challenges and share expertise (organized by Scott Becker).
Our last three Meetup topics have been “The Digital Experience Platform: Saving Time, Driving Innovation” for developers, “WordPress.com Night: Beyond the Comments” on how beginners can install Google Analytics and Jetpack to to analyze their analytics to increase their online audience and “Multi-Channel Commerce Solutions for Developers” on high-level integration of payment APIs into WordPress and apps (organized by Victor Ramirez).
Our Meetup event locations are frequently at WeWork Times Square and Microsoft in Times Square.

Our WPNYC Meetup community is 6,137 members strong and we stand out for several reasons.
First, we stand out due to our size, vibrancy, and diversity of our members’ backgrounds, interests and experience levels. Men and women attend in similar numbers, and a range of ethnicities are represented.
Second, we offer events for every level of experience – beginners, intermediate users, and experts. We let our members know all experience levels are welcome and everyone has expertise someone can benefit from. We’ve seen time and time again how selfless members can be. They share their industry expertise when presenting and during our open Q&A sessions.
Third, we have a welcoming space that results in lively and engaging discussions. We encourage members to leave politics at the door. Following presentations members share the sites they own or want to create, suggest the best themes and plugins to use, recommend websites with royalty free pictures, and much more.
Finally, thanks to our sponsor A 2 Hosting, we have consistently used two venues in the last year that allow members to experience WPNYC in different ways. Members share that they like our event spaces. We have events in Microsoft in Times Square and in the co-working office space WeWork Times Square. At WeWork we host an intimate number of members (15-18). At Microsoft, we have a mid-sized group (30) and a large group (50+). Members have access to drinks and snacks as well as WordPress swag when available.
Our WordCamp stands out among the rest. We are one of the longest established WordCamps. Our location (New York City) is in the heart of New York State, and it intrigues and attracts speakers and attendees across the country and even the world. Our attendee number has grown from a 100 plus attendee event in 2008, organized by the WPNYC Meetup team, to 450 in 2016. WCNYC was held at the United Nations in 2016 and continues to be a premier experience for WordPress enthusiasts. We offer developer and user tracks and have been fortunate to secure notable members within the WordPress community. We make it a point to introduce our Meetup members new to WordPress to WordCamp.
Our growth was nurtured by many including Kevin Cristiano, Krista Gonzalez, Dana, Rindy Portfolio, Dana Skallman and last but not least, Steve Bruner.
