Community-organized, they offer something for\u00a0everyone, from blogging newbies to professional developers, from marketing professionals to experienced\u00a0designers, from tech enthusiasts to leading technologists. Most importantly, they provide a welcoming, engaging and safe space for WordPress users to get to know one another.<\/p>\n<p>WordCamp San Francisco was the first-ever <a href=\"http:\/\/central.wordcamp.org\/wordcamps\/san-francisco-2006\/\">WordCamp<\/a>, organized by WordPress co-founder <a href=\"http:\/\/ma.tt\/\">Matt Mullenweg<\/a> in 2006. Over time, it grew\u00a0into the official annual WordPress conference with over 30 speakers and 1500+ attendees converging from all over the world. Along with sessions by leaders in the WordPress community, it featured\u00a0<em>The State of the Word<\/em> address, where Matt talks about upcoming WordPress developments and answers questions from the audience.<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, WordCamp US was announced, with Philadelphia, PA as the host city.
